Real Estate Shopping Spree

Equity One Inc. said this
week it had struck a $600 million deal to buy the owner of 15
California commercial properties — most of them choice retail centers
in the Bay Area — including some in the East Bay. The wide-ranging deal will bring a new owner to 2.6 million square feet now owned by Capital & Counties U.S.A. Inc. Among the prominent Northern California properties that will change hands: Plaza Escuela, a downtown Walnut Creek retail center anchored by The Cheesecake Factory Willows Shopping Center in Concord 222 Sutter St. in San Francisco's Union Square shopping district, anchored by Loehmann's Serramonte Shopping Center, a regional mall in Daly City.
