Chavez Supermarket lines up eighth store in South San Jose
By David Goll, Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal
A few months after opening its seventh store, growing regional chain Chavez Supermarket announced plans for its eighth store in the city’s Blossom Valley district.
The family-owned Hispanic food retailer will debut its first South
San Jose store in the fall, opening in a 10,000-square-foot space at
Sunrise Plaza. The property was vacated Feb. 1 by longtime tenant and
home merchandise retailer Western Appliance.
Financial terms of the Sunrise Plaza deal were not disclosed, but
Beto Chavez, the company’s general manager, said it will cost about $1
million to convert the former Western Appliance store. Construction
work will begin next month, he said. Complete article can be found at: http://sanjose.bizjournals.com/sanjose/stories/2010/03/08/story7.html?q=san%20jose%20retail
