Sunnyvale Pak 'n Save set for demolition to make way for shopping center

"The Pak'n Save Foods grocery
store at the corner of Saratoga Sunnyvale Road and El Camino Real
closed its doors permanently Saturday after being a longtime
neighborhood staple. The food store and former Dress Barn building at
the site are set to be demolished to make way for a new shopping
center. The city issued demolition permitstoday."
"...the new center, approved in
2008 with 110,000 square feet of space, is set to include a 24-Hour
Fitness, Safeway and the current Petco and Pep Boys. The Toys "R" Us
building will remain untouched. The special development permit for the
future 24-Hour Fitness portion of the center was approved Jan. 19. The
fitness center will occupy about 45,500 square feet, including a 5,200 square-foot open mezzanine for cardio activity and a work out room. The facility will operate 24 hours a day."
